Many manga have similar themes to Death Note. However, what makes it interesting is that the same theme had already been explored in a previous title, entitled "The Miraculous Book" or "Fushigi na Techou" in Japanese, written by Shigeru Mizuki in 1973. The protagonist is a middle-aged man age who, inexplicably, finds a notebook with names written on the pages and, mysteriously, the people whose names are written end up dying.
